- Ballot packets for the primary and special election will be mailed to registered voters on July 15. Voters should receive a ballot by July 21.
- Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning biotoxin levels have dropped in shellfish in northern Whatcom County. The Washington State Department of Health has lifted the biotoxin closure from Sandy Point north to the Canadian border including all of Point Roberts.
- Whatcom County Health and Community Services has released the 2024-2025 Behavioral Health Fund Report, highlighting how local tax dollars and state and federal grants are supporting mental health and substance use services across our community.
- Nara Organics has issued a recall of their Whole Milk Organic Powdered Infant Formula. This product was sold nationwide at Target retail stores, including the Whatcom County location, as well as on Target.com and Nara.com between July 2025 and June 2026.
- Work will occur the week of May 18 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from the Beach Cat area north to just past Harborview Road.
- Three disposal sites for items damaged by flooding, available for both residents and businesses.
- All events will be held at the Lummi Island Ferry Office (island-side terminal).
- We’re about to see a dramatic weather warm-up this weekend, with record high temperatures possible on Sunday and Monday. Places further from the coast, like Maple Falls, Deming, Glacier, and Lynden, will see higher temperatures.
- Come take a guided tour of the Election Center in Whatcom County. It’s a chance to learn about the steps to ballot processing, the security measures in place, and to ask questions about the process. Tours will take less than an hour.
- Travelers may encounter heavier-than-usual traffic in some areas of Whatcom County from mid-June through early July.
- Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone and assist traffic traveling to and from the ferry terminal.
